I have been noticing that the sample chapters of Harp & Gyre that I put up online have been getting an unusually high number of hits. (For those who want numbers, “unusually high” for me, means means 19 page views this month, instead of the more usual 4.) No referring pages that mention it have been showing up in my stats, and no more than the usual number of search engine referrals, so someone (or more than one someone) has probably been getting there from a bookmark, or a direct link sent by email, or something like that.
Frankly, I was surprised. I don't really expect my website to get much in the way of traffic other than accidental encounters by people sent my way by search engines. (And the people who come to look at the rec.arts.sf.composition faq, of course, but all they do is look at the faq. It's kept quite separate from the rest of the site.)
It was only as I sat there wondering what whoever it was who was going there would do when they got to the end of the two chapters available, that I realized that I had removed my contact info from the site when I changed email addresses and servers and never put it back up.
Oops!
That's fixed now.
This time I went a little more elaborate. There's a feedback form now. I hope it works. (It works for me, of course, I wouldn't put it up with out testing it, but 'works for me' does not always mean 'works for everyone'.)
