I am up to 6 strips in my Chaos Circle filk comic, although I took a break to do character pages for the all the characters that have appeared so far. I couldn't decide which of a couple portraits I wanted for some of the characters, and ended up putting in a javascript slideshow, so I could use them all. Boyd looked at Antonia's page (3 portraits) and his comment was “Not for people with dial-up, I take it.” Spoilsport! They don't *have* to wait for all the pictures to upload, do they? They can read the character's vital statistics (primary instrument, voice range, favorite filksongs…) and move on. Strip 7 introduces two new characters, neither of which I have actually put together yet. So I guess that's next.
I also worked on some Black Flag characters (that's the space pirate graphic novel). I painted tattoos on Captain Blood, and bought a new outfit (at 50% off), mostly for the boots, which were promptly swapped with the ones Captain Silver was already wearing. I also ended up buying a ponytail for Silver, because I didn't think any of the ones I had already looked exactly right. It's pretty cool, it uses actual geometric hairs instead of transmaps, and after a bit of fiddling, I ended up turning off the texture maps altogether to get the shade of white I wanted. (Yes, I know, none of my lj friends have a clue what I'm nattering about, okay I cease to natter.) I think initial design work on Blood and Silver is pretty much done.
I miss writing. The graphic storytelling I've been doing instead fills a similar need but it feels so much slower. I've never had to put this much prewriting effort into characterization before either. I don't generally even make character sheets for my characters. Realizing a character has tattoos takes a split second, figuring out what the tattoos look like, fifteen-twenty minutes. Actually getting them onto my 3D character… six or more *hours*. :::rueful grin:::
Energy-wise I haven't been doing that great. Every day I get something accomplished, seems to be followed by at least one day where I rest and recover. Today I accomplished: I took the kids swimming, to the library, got Jasmine and Alloria to flute and violin lessons, and did brief music lessons for all the other kids. Doubt I'll be up for much tomorrow. Only being able to do things one day in three is… rough. I'm behind in everything.
