Usually about <height>80</height> ft tall and 12-<diameter>36</diameter> inches in diameter. Crown is irregular and wide,with a clear trunk for twenty feet or more. Bark on young trees is smooth and dark brown, but it soon becomes thick and black, with deep furrows, and rough broken ridges. Inner bark is bright yellow. Slow growth.
