They Say
The End Credits Song
by L. Shelby
They say that you're a rogue and a pirate
They say that no heart's safe in your reach
That you'll pull me under, my treasure you'll plunder
And I'll be left alone on the beach
They say that you're a crook and a killer
And count up all the damage you've done
And it may be they're right, but I know why you fight
And the cost of all the vict'ries you've won.
It's a dangerous life that you've brought me
And a dangerous man that I choose
But it's far, far too late to have warned me
For I no longer care what I'll lose
They say that you're the devil incarnate
That you will bring me nothing but harm
I tremble in dread, at the things they have said
And yet still, I feel so safe in your arms
I was watching Castle of Cagliostro one day, and the end credit song was in Japanese, and I found myself wondering what the lyrics were. I told myself it didn't really matter, because the lyrics of the end credit song rarely have much to do with the movie anyway. Suddenly I was filled with a desire to write an end credit song for Black Flag that had roughly as much to do with the stories as end credit songs typically do.
