Home > Sketchbook > Meshwork and WingsMeshwork is an inexpensive modeling program for Macintosh, designed for use with low-res objects. I've tried doing more complicated objects with mixed results, but it's great for slapping together simple props to use with poser figures, such as Rivey's staff. I also have a copy of the freeware modeler Wings3D, which is in many ways more powerful, but not nearly as easy to work with. |

This is the Pirate Ship Revenge from the 'Black Flag' universe, which I modeled in Wings. Since the Black Flag stories are planned to be done graphic novel style, I needed the capabilities of the more powerful program. |
Bazomi's hair was modeled in Meshwork, as was her gisgir (the thingy on her legs). Neither is very high-res, and I think I'm going to have to do both over again, but it was a nice nice to have some reference pictures to use. | This image has nothing to do with writing, I made it to use as a title page for my filk songbook. But the concertina in this picture was made in meshwork, and then imported into Poser. (I needed to make my own concertina model because the only one I've found online is an Anglo, and I play an English.) | |
'Suddenly I'm getting the horrible feeling someone who won a National Book Award has recommended no more than two pronouns per book. With pronouns, adverbs, adjectives, similes and alliteration eliminated, how long till we can't use nouns and verbs? How long till books contain nothing but prepositions?' -- Evil Editor
