I like to think with a pencil in my hand. I just seem to find it easier to come to grips with ideas if they are scribbled on a page in front of me, and not stuck behind my eyes. Perhaps that is why I am a writer? But the real reason may be simply that I am not very good at visualizing, my imagination is primarily spatial and kinesthetic, and the world inside my mind is inhabited by shapes and motions more than sights. I can also imagine sounds quite easily, but have trouble imagining smells.
