Authors aren't encouraged to try to illustrate their own work, but it is hard to resist the urge. Most of my earlier stories are heavily illustrated, back when everything I did was terrible, and the pictures were no worse than the stories they accompanied. Later on I became less likely to actually draw right on the text, but my sketchbooks always seemed to end up with at least one or two story illustrations in them.

This is my first serious attempt at a 3D illustration. I started out with the sketch below, as my starting concept .
