I added something called “Peluge’s Preposterous Adventures” to the Fun Stuff page on my website. It’s one of those thingies where you pick some words — nouns, adjectives, whatever, and they get filled into a pre-written story (so far I have three stories for it to randomize between). It needs a picture of Peluge (from Eyes of Infistar) to go with it, though — I think I’m going to have to draw him, he’s a tricky subject for 3D.
My next Fun Stuff project is to fix the Horoscopes so they are actually fun. They were really designed to be writing tools for me and I just added them to that page because the Why I Was Kicked Out of Fantasy Hero School quiz looked lonely on the page all by itself. After that I’ll start work on the flower messages, I guess.
And while we’re on the subject of websites…
… according to some “website valuation” calculator I bumped into today while doing something else, my music website is worth a little over 6000 USD, and my writing site is worth nearly two thousand. The music page has got a higher page ranking, more backlinks, and more traffic. Filkdom tends to be really into incestuous linking: I link to you and you link to me and we both link to her, and him and them, and they link back to us… And the lovely thing is that it’s all very valid and completely legitimate linking and not done to try rig page rankings. There are original songs to be found at the ends of all those links, and everyone really truly wants everyone else to be able to find them.
My writing site isn’t doing all that badly either, though, when you consider that I haven’t done anything in particular to make it visible. There just didn’t seem to be any point in trying to attract traffic when it’s mostly a site about books that don’t exist yet and can’t be read anywhere. I just keep working on it because it’s a handy place to put information that I want to have available to me, and because it’s fun, and because eventually I will sell a book, and when I do I will have a great author site all ready to be made useful. (At least, I hope it’s a great author site.)
