I am now home again after spending a week in the hospital with my youngest daughter. I took her to the doctor on the 3rd, because she was pale and listless, and he said she had severe anemia and should be taken to the emergency room at Dayton Children’s. They gave her a blood transfusion, and the following morning checked her bone marrow, and diagnosed her as having Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (the most common and most treatable type of children’s leukemia).
The discharge summary states that “she tolerated her chemo well, and remained talkative and playful throughout her stay”. 🙂
Treatment of her condition is expected to last approximately 2-1/2 years.
