Ran children's crafts for “Small Town Christmas” on Saturday, with Azure, Jasmine and Alloria's help.
I think it went well. I was too busy to take any pictures though. I think we had about 80 or so kids come through and make something.
We made large ornaments for the community tree in the center of town.
For the younger children we made tinfoil balls, tied up in colored plastic film, and tied with a ribbon, to look pretty. The balls are stuffed with plastic shopping bags, and so are light-weight, inexpensive, and reasonably water proof.
The older children were given Sharpie markers so they could make their own designs on the tinfoil, and either made tinfoil bells (using the top third of a 2liter pop bottle as the base) or decorated tinfoil balls, like the younger kids, only without the plastic film.
We also cut up the bottom of the pop-bottles into strips to make a chain. Each strip was stapled into place, wrapped in tinfoil, and then every other link was also wrapped in plastic film. The result was very colorful and much admired.
